Dear Friend of the T’ang Studies Society: The T’ang Studies Society would like to update you on the international conference that it is co-sponsoring with the Elling O. Eide Foundation and the Numata Program in Buddhist Studies at the University of Calgary to celebrate the opening of the Elling O. Eide Library. The conference, “Making Connections: Contemporary Approaches to the Tang Dynasty, In Honor of the Opening of the Elling O. Eide Library,” will be held at The Elling O. Eide Library in Sarasota, Florida from November 10-12, 2016. The conference has three goals: (1) to bring together a wide range of scholars of the Tang to present papers in different disciplines, emphasizing new, emerging questions and interdisciplinary approaches; (2) to connect scholars of the Tang from different generations, from senior scholars to graduate students; and (3) to introduce the Eide Library and the Elling O. Eide Charitable Foundation to those scholars, showcasing its collection as an important new scholarly resource. Please note that space at the library is limited and therefore registration are accepted subject to availability on a first-come, first-served basis.
