Dear T'ang Studies Society members and past members,

The T'ang Studies Society is planning to host a Tang Daoist and Buddhist text-reading workshop in the first week of September (2-4) 2015, location TBD soon, most likely on the east coast. We would like to gauge interest among the TSS members in participating in order to finalize plans--please respond to this email in the coming week (or send a separate note to admin@tangstudies.org) if you would be interested in attending.

Professors Wendi Adamek and Stephen Bokenkamp will run the sessions of the two-and-a-half day workshop, which will focus on less commonly read texts from the Tang Daoist and Buddhist traditions. The workshop will be open to TSS members from all fields and stages, including advanced doctoral students. The Society will provide travel subventions in the range of $300-400 to all registered participants, and lodging options will not be prohibitively expensive. We would also appreciate it if members could circulate this announcement to senior graduate students in their own or other appropriate programs.

We will make an announcement about registration for the workshop once we've received responses from our membership, but at the latest by our annual reception at the AAS in Chicago. Thank you in advance for your responses.

Sincerely,

Anna
