News Beat Wednesday, April 27, 2005 Man sentenced in Net sex sting OGDEN -- A Cedar City man who hooked up online with a local officer posing as an underage female was sentenced to six months in jail for enticing a minor over the Internet. The Northern Utah Internet Crimes Against Children task force arrested Paul J. Klein, 43, Cedar City's public works inspector, last November after a detective kept up a six-month cyberfling that led to a rendezvous in Cedar City. Officers said the suspect thought he was meeting a 13-year-old girl for sex. Klein was then driven back to Ogden and booked into the Weber County Jail. A six-month encounter is one of the longest in the task force's tenure, officials said. Arrests usually occur the same night contact is made. In addition to jail, 2nd District Judge Ernie Jones ordered Klein to have only work-related computer access and complete sex offender treatment. The sentence will be served, with work release, in the Iron County Jail in Cedar City, pending approval of officials in both counties.
