About 40 employees were evacuated from the Owens Corning insulation factory Wednesday morning when a furnace stack caught on fire. Crews were called to the factory near 4400 West and 800 South about 9:45 a.m., said Salt Lake City Fire Department spokesman Dennis McKone.    Three crash victims flown to hospitals

Three people were flown to Salt Lake City hospitals Wednesday afternoon after two cars collided head-on in Taylorsville. None of the injuries was life threatening, said Taylorsville police officer Mike Kimball. A car southbound on 4015 West drifted into oncoming traffic for an unknown reason about 3:30 p.m. near 5800 South. The car struck a northbound vehicle head-on, Kimball said. The 16-year-old driver of the northbound car and a 2-year-old boy in the vehicle suffered serious injuries and were flown to separate hospitals. Another passenger in the car was taken to the hospital but was stable Wednesday evening. The 75-year-old driver of the southbound car was flown to the hospital, where he, too, was stable Wednesday. Everyone was wearing a seat belt, but the 2-year-old was not in a child safety seat, Kimball said.
