Fire forces Ogden condo residents to flee

Firefighters in Ogden evacuated 24 people from a condominium building after it caught fire early Friday. No one was injured, but one person was displaced, according to the fire department. Firefighters received the alarm at 1:35 a.m. and responded to a the 19-unit condominium complex at 1175 Canyon Road. Deputy Chief Dave Owens said five units on the top floor of the three-story building sustained significant damage. The cause of the fire was under investigation Friday and a cost estimate was not available.
Robber gets loot, flees from credit union
Police are seeking a man who robbed a University of Utah Credit Union on Friday. According to the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office, a man entered the credit union at 7220 S. Highland Drive about 11:20 a.m. and gave the teller a note demanding money. The note mentioned a weapon, but none was seen. The man obtained money and fled on foot, according to the sheriff's office. The suspect was described as a Latino male in his mid-40s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds with a mustache and goatee. Photographs display him wearing a gray shirt, sunglasses, and a blue-and-white baseball cap with a white insignia. Self-inflicted gunshot claims Springville man
A 22-year-old man died after he accidentally shot himself in the stomach Thursday night in Provo. Dispatchers received a call about 10 p.m. from a panicked woman who said her friend had just shot himself in the stomach, according to Provo police. Officers found the Springville man lying outside of his car at 260 N. 2200 West with a gunshot wound in his abdomen. A friend of his said that as she was leaving the car, the man placed a gun to his stomach and, for an unknown reason, pulled the trigger. The man, who died during surgery because of complications, told officers he did not shoot himself on purpose, according to police.
Man sentenced for downloading child porn
A 45-year-old West Valley City man has been sentenced to prison for up to 30 years for downloading hundreds of images of child pornography. Justin Blaine Davila was found guilty in March by a jury of 100 counts of second-degree felony sexual exploitation of a minor. Third District Judge Paul Maughan ordered two of the counts to run consecutively and fined Davila $14,594.
Three charged with Summit ATV burglaries
The Summit County Attorney has charged three men with stealing all-terrain vehicles and other items and believes more victims have been burglarized but don't know it yet. The Summit County Sheriff's Office announced that three suspects have admitted to breaking into 12 or 15 cabins in the Manor Lands area of Summit County. Some of the homeowners use the cabins as second residences and might not know they have been burglarized. Anyone believing they might have been a victim can call Summit County Detective Brad Wilde at 435-615-3500 or Davis County Detective Ty Berger at 801-451-4100. The men have been charged with five counts of felony burglary and two counts of misdemeanor criminal mischief.
