For cycling, we suggest Canyonlands National Park Visitor Center to Grandview Point or Kane Creek road from town along the Colorado River (turn one block north of the Moab Brewery). For more information go to www.discovermoab.com (http://rs6.net/tn.jsp?t=ldcr8sbab.0.kud75sbab.8yk869n6.2308&p=http%3A%2F%2Fw...) or check out local information provided at the Vendor Expo tent. QUESTION: Im already registered for the full four day festival, but my friends are just now saying YES. Cant they go with me on all four days? PLEEEZE? ANSWER: Ohh, Im so sorry but, no. If your group is staying through Monday, this is your day to exercise Dr. Phils suggestion of creating a little healthy space in your relationship. (See suggestions for your friends above). What you CAN do, however is still take advantage of the recruit 3 riders, receive free registration offer. Collect their registration forms, send to our office with your name as the recruited by person and well refund up to $50 of your registration fee in cash at the event. Dr. Phil suggestion: Use the dough to buy your friends a beverage at Slickrock Café or Moab Brewery. Enjoy sharing the excitement and adventure of your different days with each other as the sun sets over the red rock canyons. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Donations Are Rolling In . . . Thank You! Last year we raised $87,000 for LAF; our personal goal this year is to top $100,000. Thanks to your fundraising efforts, we are well on our way at $82,149. Keep up the good work! See suggestion below about how to get those last donations into the bank and assure yourself a spot as a Top Fundraiser. Prizes and benefits awarded to all raising above $300; raise $1000+ and ride with cycling greats Chris Carmichael and Bob Roll. Last year we had 20 riders in the top fundraiser group; our goal this year is 40 cyclists on the private ride with Chris Carmichael, Bob Roll, and Dennis Cavner, LAFs Board Chairman. Click here (http://rs6.net/tn.jsp?t=ldcr8sbab.0.kfiwk5aab.8yk869n6.2308&p=http%3A%2F%2Fw...) for details on how to be in this elite group. Bob Roll is more likely to be in bike shorts than a tux, but his gratitude for all you do for LAF will be felt. Tip of the Day from Mark Griffith, Event Director: If you signed up online or provided us with an email address when mailing registration into our office, a fundraising page was automatically created for you at ActiveGiving.com (http://rs6.net/tn.jsp?t=ldcr8sbab.0.ahczbsbab.8yk869n6.2308&p=http%3A%2F%2Fw...) making online donations easier. You can edit and change your own page or update it with how your friends are helping you reach your goal. If choosing to use this online fundraising tool, add a message to the bottom of your emails inviting people to donate to your cause. You may fear your friends feel bothered by your requests, yet Ive been told they feel left out when not asked to be part of your cause. Tell them $10 or $1000 makes a difference and that you are inspired by their support. A sample: Make a difference in the lives of those living, with, through, and beyond cancer. (http://rs6.net/tn.jsp?t=ldcr8sbab.0.pud75sbab.8yk869n6.2308&p=http%3A%2F%2Fw...) Tech Tips from Scott at Poison Spider Bicycles in Moab: Dont let neglected maintenance ruin your ride! With the Festival only two weeks away it is time to get ready, and I don't mean by trying to get in shape. Get your bike ready. Why come to Moab and have a bad day's ride because of a mechanical? The number one problem we see ruining a day's ride is the condition of the bikes tires. If you have been inside riding a trainer for the winter there is a really good chance that your rear tire is starting to get thin and worn out. I recommend taking your bike to your local shop and getting a minor check up to make sure that your bike is ready for the spring. Have them check out the condition of your tires and see if they need replaced. Now is also a good chance to get new handlebar tape. If you are looking for extra comfort try some of the new handlebar tapes that have gel in them or come with gel inserts. Coming to the Skinny Tire Fest with a cleaned, tuned bike with new tires will only help you out. Bike repairs on route always take longer than in the shop. If you make it to Moab, stop by Poison Spider Bicycles at 497 N Main and visit our knowledgeable staff and take advantage of our tire and tube sale for the fest. Buy any road tire and get a free tube. We have tires from Michelin, Conti, Bontrager, Maxxis, and Vittoria. We look forward to seeing you on the road. Ciao, Scott Newton (http://rs6.net/tn.jsp?t=ldcr8sbab.0.sud75sbab.8yk869n6.2308&p=http%3A%2F%2Fw... coming to the SKINNY? Live in the Denver Metro area? Get your bike tuned up by Festival supporter Mobile Cyclery. Mention the Skinny Tire Festival in next 60 days and receive $10 off tune-up. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Skinny Tire Events ------------------------------------------------------------ email: info@skinnytirefestival.com phone: 435-259-2698 web: http://www.skinnytirefestival.com ------------------------------------------------------------ Forward email http://ui.constantcontact.com/sa/fwtf.jsp?m=1011294776091&ea=mailinglist%40b...
