Raleigh UDOT Wasatch Front Construction Update – July 14, 2006 The following information represents changes or updates to state road construction impacts and closures for the coming weeks. For more information on these and other ongoing projects, visit www.udot.utah.gov and click on “Projects and Studies.” **NOTE: All work schedules are subject to change due to weather, emergency or equipment issues. Salt Lake County I-80, MOUTH OF PARLEY’S CANYON TO EAST OF LAMB’S CANYON, REPAVING WHERE: I-80 from Stillman Bridge to east of Lamb’s Canyon WHEN: Nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. This project is on schedule for completion in early August. --Beginning Thursday, 7/20, operations may move to daytime during off peak hours for most of the remaining project with restrictions to 2 lanes eastbound and westbound. Intermittent ramp closures could occur. WHAT: Work is taking place on mainline I-80. The freeway is restricted to one lane nightly traveling eastbound, then westbound in a moving operation. --Tuesday, 7/18, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.—full closure of the Rocky Road Ramp from I-80 to I-215 East WHY: Pavement replacement Lee -2572 D. Rosenstein S.R. 201 DESIGN-BUILD RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT Intermittent ramp closures continue at the S.R. 201 and I-215 interchange nightly, through Thursday, July 20 between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. for asphalt paving. Motorists may use Redwood Road, 3200 West or California Avenue as alternate routes. WHERE: S.R. 201 from 900 West to Bangerter Hwy WHEN: Weeknights through mid August, beginning as early as 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. WHAT: Restricted to one lane in each direction WHY: Crews are working to complete various tasks on mainline S.R. 201 WHERE: 3200 West On-Ramp to Eastbound SR 201 WHEN: Currently through July WHAT: Watch for lane shifts in the area to allow space for crews to complete the roadway shoulders and medians. WHERE: S.R. 201 eastbound off-ramp to Redwood Road WHEN: Ongoing WHAT: The eastbound off-ramp is reduced to one lane WHY: Ramp reconstruction WHERE: Redwood Road at the S.R. 201 Interchange WHEN: Ongoing WHAT: Flaggers are onsite to facilitate traffic flow. WHY: Signal and sidewalk installations WHERE: S.R. 201 and Bangerter Highway ramps WHEN: Ongoing WHAT: Lane restrictions at the S.R. 201 westbound off-ramp and eastbound on-ramp NOTE: S.R. 201 mainline is scheduled for substantial completion in late August. The S.R. 202 Junction is now a 4-way stop. DETOUR: Motorists may travel between S.R. 201 and I-80 via S.R. 202 (road to Saltair). Rosenstein 3500 SOUTH, 5600 WEST TO 8400 WEST; RESURFACING WHERE: 3500 South from 5600 West to 8400 West WHEN: Beginning as early as Monday, July 17 WHAT: Single-lane restrictions will take place during non-peak traffic hours for pedestrian ramp replacements WHY: This new construction project will improve safety and prolong the life of the road by replacing pedestrian ramps, and resurfacing the roadway. VanJura -2560 I-80, 5600 WEST TO S.R. 202, TRAFFIC LINE STRIPING WHERE: I-80 westbound from 5600 West to S.R. 202 (road to Saltair) WHEN: Ongoing through Monday, July 17, from 3 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. WHAT: I-80 will be restricted to one lane westbound WHY: Restriping traffic lines on the road. WHO: Dan, -2430 REDWOOD ROAD AND I-80 INTERCHANGE, BRIDGE REPLACEMENT WHERE: I-80 between I-15 and I-215 WHEN: Friday, July 14 at 9 p.m. through Monday, July 17 at 6 a.m. WHAT: I-80 mainline will be closed for reconstruction of the Redwood Road overpass. DETOUR: Use I-215 as an alternate route. Signs will be onsite to re-direct traffic to the appropriate detour routes. WHERE: I-80 beneath the Redwood Overpass WHEN: Ongoing through Friday, July 21 during non-peak hours WHAT: I-80 mainline is restricted to one lane in each direction for construction of the new Redwood Road overpass. WHERE: Redwood Road from 100 South to 400 South WHEN: Ongoing through September at all hours WHAT: Redwood Road is restricted to one lane in each direction with a center turn-lane. WHY: Bridge structures have been replaced on the east side of the Redwood Road overpass. Traffic restrictions will remain in place at all hours. WHAT: Construction begins with installation of a new traffic signal near the South Jordan City offices south of the 10400 South intersection. Traffic is switching to the east side of with road with one lane open in each direction. WHAT: Work has begun on the northwest quadrant of 700 East at 9800 South, with traffic switched to the new pavement on the east side of the street for about half of the project length. Expect narrowed lanes and lane shifts at 9800 South, eastbound and westbound, for the next two weeks. Watch for flaggers stopping traffic to allow trucks to enter and leave the construction zone. NOTE: All businesses remain open in the area. Commuters and through traffic should take alternate routes to avoid delay. Motorists are reminded to reduce their speed in the work zone. WHERE: I-80 off-ramp to S.R. 36 WHEN: Temporarily suspended until late July WHAT: Once work resumes, there will be intermittent lane restrictions on I-80 mainline and the off-ramp to S.R. 36 during non-peak traffic hours.
