[BBTC Ride_calendar] Airport to Marina closures
From Dan B:
Ive spoken with Engineering and others in Transportation about this issue. What we have is a great deal of work going in within the North Temple Frontage Road in the area just west of 5600 West. We have storm drains, sewer and water lines all being installed which will at times create gaps in the asphalt and deep trenches. This creates a very hazardous situation for road users. As such, the roadway between approximately 5600 West and 7200 West has been closed by the city until mid February or March. If bicyclists need to travel the two miles between 5600 West and 7200 West in that area they should use the I-80 shoulder. The I-80 shoulder in this area is approximately nine feet wide and the law does allow bicyclists to travel on I-80 west of 5600 West. We understand this closure is an inconvenience, especially for those who normally enjoy a quiet, almost auto free, recreational ride in this area, but feel the closure is appropriate for the safety of the traveling public. Thank you for your cooperation! Dan Bergenthal, P.E.
