Wow! Isn't this about riding? This is a soap opera that I can't seem to turn away from. Like a train wreck. Get on your bikes and ride! The competition is causing the problem. Get rid of it. From: "Robert Yuschak" <rob@freshtraks.com> To: "BBTC Ride mail list" <mailinglist@bbtc.net> Subject: [BBTC Ride_calendar] WOW! interesting responses both on and offtrack of the question! Date: Tue, 13 Dec 2005 23:28:40 -0700 Club Mileage? Well, so far the response to a simple question of what constitutes club rides eligible for mileage credit has been interesting. I had hoped to hear from more of the membership base and for it all to be a positive response which except for a poorly presented sarcasm has been informative. Please understand, no ride will be prevented from being allowed to be listed on the ride calendar. Whether the ride will earn club mileage credit or not was the issue to be discussed. Looking at past records most members are not motivated by earning mileage as much as the security and enjoyment of riding with other cyclists. Yes, there are those of us that want to accumulate as many miles as possible with the club and look to wear their high mileage jersey with pride, and I applaud your efforts and dedication. There are also those of us out having a friendly competition with another member or two over who records more miles. Then, there are those of us who love to ride and its great seeing the miles grow on the mileage list but don't really care whether we achieve the high mileage ranking. Yes, I am currently sitting on top of the mileage list, but I know I won't stay there because its ski season and if I have any free time it's going to be on my skis and I won't be back on the road with my bike until the resorts close and the snow melts. By the way, anyone wanting to ski with me is always welcome. Most of my resort skiing will be at the Park City Mountain Resort and if I ever have a full day off from work I like to go back country. My motivation for putting this question out to the club was for feedback. In order for me to be the best I can be at the road captain's volunteer position is to learn what the members want, ALL the members. Please feel free to contact me with your ideas, suggestions and/or concerns. Any and every organization functions and grows solely based on its members and their participation within the organization. Help us grow and become the organization we want to be!
