Everyone,
Many of you may be aware of this already, but I wasn't, so I
thought I would alert you to a web site where you can report road
maintenance issues and road shoulders that need sweeping. There is a
form you can fill out on the Salt Lake City Mayor's Bicycle Advisory
web site under Bicycle Route Maintenance. The url is:
http://www.slcgov.com/Transportation/BicycleTraffic/RouteForm.aspx
Yesterday my husband, Steve, was riding his bike on 2700 E between 2700
S and 3300 S, when he hit a sunken manhole cover. Anyone who has
ridden that route has probably seen it as the pavement is about 4 or 5
inches above the level of the manhole cover. Poor Steve broke his
collar bone and has a partially collapsed lung. He is currently in the
hospital with a breathing tube for a few days. I urge you to please
report road hazards such as this to the Salt Lake Transportation
authorities so we can make the roads safer for cyclists. There are a
lot of big cracks and holes in the streets every spring after the
snowplows have done their job for the season so let's get them reported
and fixed!
Thanks,
Shari
