Police Rehearsals
I don't even know how to start this, so here goes - I just attended The Police's rehearsal! One minute I was outside the hall, not getting the slightest glimpse inside, and the next minute, I was sitting front row as Sting, Stewart and Andy started Roxanne. Talk about major goose bumps and lump in the throat! Ok, I'll say it - they ROCKED. It was really like they had never split up. Stew's drumming really epitomized the fact that this was THE POLICE on stage. Andy sounded good, but looked out of it (sorry - I have nothing against Andy, but he seemed bored :-( ). Sting was full of energy and sounded absolutely perfect. These guys could sell out a tour again... ...But that will never happen. I asked Billy Francis if there was any chance, and he scoffed "Are you kidding? There's no way. This is IT!" It's very, very unfortunate :-( Anyway, they played Roxanne, Message (Stew blew me away on Message) and Every Breath (there are two women singing chorus btw). They played Roxanne again, with Sting singing very little, and Every Breath again. Sting joked that Stewart sounded awful and that Sting's daughter sounded better than him! "Stewart can't do another one" he said, "He's too tired. He's old you know!" It was all in good fun though. It was a thrill for me to see them live for the first time. I hope this performance will wet Sting's appetite. Though Sting is about to release "the best album of his life... wait till you see what's coming..." To all of you going to the show (I am not btw) have a blast! I know where I'll be next Sunday night! Cheers, Fred

you are the truly lucky one, fred. seeing the boys rehearse would have meant more to me than seeing the ceremony! i went to the waldorf yesterday, hoping to stumble into rehearsal myself. unfortunately, i was there to early. what time was this? and how come you weren't forced to vacate? were you the only one there? rich --- Fred Berthelot <F.Berthelot@Ramsa.com> wrote:
