ticket to Aug 4 in Jones Beach, FINALE in MSG...anyone need?
Guy - I have one ticket to the August 4 concert in Jones Beach (15 rows from stage); and August 7 concert in Madison Square Garden (section 40, lower loge). I am going to the MSG show, got TWO tickets (I am using one). I cannot use the one for Jones Beach. Anyone that would like to buy either ticket from me, just let me know. Looking for face value and cost to ship to you, NO MORE THAN THAT. Best, Rich
My hands are still shaking - I just managed to get 3rd row Andy side for the Aug 7 show via PBS presale. I've got a pair to the Aug 5 concert I'm looking to sell at face value - Andy side, Section C row N - folks please contact me direct if interested. sockii On Jun 9, 2008, at 10:20 AM, foxie wrote:

Damn my luck. The best I was able to do was section 6 row E. $800 frigging bucks. At least I am comforted by the fact that it is going to PBS.

Ouch. That's a lot to pay for a 90 minute show. In fact, that's about what I paid for a single, half-court, tier one seat in Seattle a year ago. That's probably the single biggest reason I haven't bothered to go to another Police show since. The ticket prices are also my biggest disappointment with this tour. As someone else once said, "One show is enough for all of us!" :) Mitch
Well remember the minimum was two tickets, so although it is more than I paid for other shows, it isn't that much more. Still outrageous though. I noticed the fan site said something about how this was the last show of "this tour" instead of "forever". So it looks like they may be hedging their bets. Ten years down the road they'll be playing state fairs and we'll be longing for the days when we thought they'd never play again. Mitch Darby wrote:

Ah yes! If there is one thing I've learned from popular music, it's that there is never a forever thing. Last year was proof positive as three of my favorite bands, The Police, Van Halen, and Crowded House reformed. In my wildest dreams I couldn't have imagined that. I didn't think Sting would ever want to revisit his old band. I thought I knew that Eddie Van Halen and David Lee Roth were like oil and water and could never be mixed. And as for Crowded House, well, some things are just impossible to accomplish (much less imagine). Imagine my surprise then, that of those three, Crowded House are the only ones who produced new music, reasonable ticket prices, an ever-changing set list, and some of the most memorable shows I've ever seen (by any band). Quite a year! Mitch
I guess everyone has had different experiences with the tour. *shrug* Despite the prices, despite the corporate BS, despite issues with the official fanclub, I've had the time of my life thanks to the Police tour. More than just the music, it was getting the chance to hang out and meet so many people and making so many new friends (who I now meet up with both at shows and just for fun otherwise); to get involved in raising money for some great charity causes like the Leroy Coolbreeze Fund; being an sc.net flagbearer; CHAlloween; the list goes on and on for me. I've got no regrets and for me, one show was not nearly enough. sockii

That's cool. You're definitely on the more positive extreme. On the other side of the spectrum, lies a former roommate of mine who, at one time, was as big a fan as I. He went to one of last summer's European shows and left, utterly disgusted, prior to the last encore. I believe his email to me went something along the lines of, "I hope they never, EVER, reform again." Obviously, he had a very negative reaction. My own feelings are somewhere in the middle. Would I like to go to another Police show? Certainly. Will I spend the $$$ to do so? No. I'd rather spend that money to see a few more Crowded House shows - as with that band (to me) one show is not nearly enough. :) :) :) mitch
Congratulations with the victory. Funny thing that the man of the match turned out to be Giovanni van Bronckhorst. Anne-Jelmer
