Re: [Police] Worst Police Song
When I was a teenager, I use to make Police tapes to play in the car. When Synchronicity came out, I definitely included Mother. My best friend and I were sitting in the back seat when that song came on. My parents were in the front seat, and my Dad was like "what that hell is that!?" We just laughed really hard. Andy plays a killer base in Mother, and I always thought it was kind of wild. On the other hand, Be My Girl Sally, I can only listen to the beginning. I haven't heard the rest in years, yet can still repeat the first verse: "I was low and lonely. I couldn't sleep a wink. And I could only get unconscious, If I'd had too much to drink." (Sometimes, Andy as a lyric writer reminds me of Ringo Starr. :D ) I definitely agree the worst is A Kind of Loving though. I don't think anyone who isn't a tad sadistic would enjoy listening to that one. I think from Sting's point of view there's very little "angel" in Martin Taylor. I think that's the one with all the screaming in it... followed closely by Mother.
