I'll give you that -- it is common that tenors tend to "over-pitch", and I think it is something that Sting does on occasion. But it is much easier to listen to the "over-pitch" than to listen to the flat singing, and he is correct to sing 'higher' than needed. If you are singer (which I am) the one thing we know is that we almost never sing a perfect song. For goodness sake, a sound engineer? Nothing is ever perfect, is it?? I just saw a few seconds Police performance on the morning news. And because Andy was going to play the reissue guitar I paid extra attention to Andy's guitar sound. I'd have to agree with Dietmar that it didn't have the bite like the original. On the other hand. Times and technique have changed. After such a long time you can't expect exactly the same. They seemed quite happy. Give them a break. Some interesting articles on Andy's guitar.
