Speaking to Britain’s Event magazine, Sting admitted to occasionally lighting up a joint when writer’s block takes hold. “If I’m feeling stuck on a lyric or an idea isn’t quite gelling, sometimes a puff of weed will free it up. I rarely smoke it socially. It’s a tool, just as a pen is,” he said. “Several artists have used drugs to make great art. I certainly wouldn’t advocate that you have to take drugs to make art, but then you can’t nullify the work of the Beatles. They took LSD and they made fantastic albums.”

I caught the end of a bit on the afternoon talk show, "The Talk", where they discuss newsy tidbits, and one of their topics seemed to be about the Police only writing songs when they were high on booze or other chemical substances and maybe not remembering much? Did something come out about that?

Sharon Osbourne was reading from The Daily Mail I believe where Sting was interviewed and said that weed can help you be creative esp if you
get writers block... they (the Talk) said they were glad all of his fans were over 40 since that was a horrible message for kids..I can't easily find
