I said it because like the others have pointed out Sting has lost most of his mojo way back with TST.
Admittedly, TST was a turning point. The songs from that era that I liked the most were the singles not included on the US release. That started a trend for me, until BND. For me, BND had a swing back to an earlier feel in Sting's solo music--not necessarily the same music, but the same feeling. Admittedly, I do like world music, so those influences upon Sting were quite exciting. I just hope I'm not coming to the end of enjoying it. I was thinking about the almost orgazimic joy I felt seeing him during the NLTS tour, and how that feeling evolved into tears of joy during a BND show. Where else can you go, when you've come full circle? I don't think it's Sting, really, I think it's us. Let Sting maybe just be influenced by his own thoughts and feelings--and just listen to the music in his own mind. We know he doesn't write anyone else's lyrics as his own. Likewise, why should his music be so swayed by someone outside of the feel of the song (which of course, only he really knows--having conceived the lyrics, sans meaning)?
