hey! they have all evolved musically. apart from their physical health and mental well-being, that is the biggest reason the police are no more (unfortunately: because they wanted to do different things. to me, not one of their respective post-police projects - be it stewart's operas, andy's jazz musings or sting's performance with the backstreet boys - outranks the other: they are all on par with each other, all worthy of respect, regardless of whether or not i like them personally. i make that statement not only out of immense respect for each of them but also with the undying feeling that, despite their solo accomplishments, they are, to paraphrase pete townshend ("who" should know a thing or two about the subject!!!), better off and have more to offer the music world playing together than apart. rich --- Giovanni <giovanni.pollastri@libero.it> wrote:
Hi Courtney, Dietmar, Ruediger, Kinetic Kid, Efrain and all of the others involved in this discussion.
Thanks for your sweet words Courney; I think the debate should only make us reflects about our own opinions, and as I said, everybody can learn, starting from myself, about any sort of discussion. THERE IS ONE THING that comes out of that: WE ALL LIKE ANDY SKILLS AND WE ARE ALL FIGHTING TO DEFEND WHAT HE HAS DONE IN THE PAST, don't you all feel this way? Dietmar may be seen as the contrary man, but seeing deeply in fact, he is trying to defend the 'heyday Andy' from the 'new Andy', if we can say that; for me it's exactly the same man evolving his style, for someone else is different, but we wouldn't waste our time on this computer if we were not interested in talking about something we feel very very close. So everybody, we're all hard Andy fans, right? But we may be different as well! Ciao ciao Giovanni
You know, everyone is being nasty to Dietmar about his opinon of Andy's playing. He has as much right as anyone to voice his opinion on this list, and as he is a genuine Police fan and seems to have some idea of what he is talking about, perhaps we should take his opinion seriously and consider just what it is in Andy's playing that invites Dietmar to say something like he did. We don't have to agree, or even admit that what Dietmar said has value, but the holier-than-thou attitude of some people responding to his message is irritating and not constructive. Giovanni had a good response, outlining why he thought Dietmer was wrong, but some people seem to be feigning pity for poor Dietmar and his misguided ways.
