I made a tremendous find a few years ago on ebay - a tobacco sunburst, ebony necked, "fat" tele, American made for $660. It does the job and with a little compression, flang, chorus and delay I can get "the sound." Andy's book inspired me to pick it up again and (re)learn those great jazz 7ths, 9ths, sus and add chords. As far as the replica Tele, maybe I'll have to wait until the medical school loans are paid off! 'the darkness makes my stumble for a key to a door that's wide open'

I'm considering purchasing the Andy Summers replica Fender Telecaster
whoah mark, you must mave some serious wads of spare bills laying around to be able to consider that! 15 grand is just too much, if it were 3 gs that might be reasonable. anyway i am considering buying a generic warmoth double bound tobacco sunburst tele with a maple neck and building my own replica from pictures - that total might run in the range of $800 bucks.
but i hear ya on helping other list members out with tickets and parties etc.!!!
