Hi everybody, I am sorry to be so obvious, but i can't imagine anyone laughing at Andy or anybody for that matter on stage trying to give a good performance ... It's a lack of respect to the person playing especially in a club. I have nothing against opinions, but laughing at 2/3 of the concert??!! ... Come on! I have seen Andy play with John Etheridge and play with a whole band and i think his guitar playing was taken very much seriously by the crowd and myself. He was really playing soulfully. And melodic he is, compared to many jazz musicians out there. If you were going there expecting the Police then you were going to be disappointed for sure. Because Andy has about 7 or 8 albums and i think he wants to play his solo stuff more than anything else ... If you listen to his albums you will know what to expect. My opinion and not being nasty, :) Kinetic Kid --- csloan <csloan@vt.edu> wrote:
You know, everyone is being nasty to Dietmar about his opinon of Andy's playing. He has as much right as anyone to voice his opinion on this list, and as he is a genuine Police fan and seems to have some idea of what he is talking about, perhaps we should take his opinion seriously and consider just what it is in Andy's playing that invites Dietmar to say something like he did. We don't have to agree, or even admit that what Dietmar said has value, but the holier-than-thou attitude of some people responding to his message is irritating and not constructive. Giovanni had a good response, outlining why he thought Dietmer was wrong, but some people seem to be feigning pity for poor Dietmar and his misguided ways.
