Subject: [Police] Mysterious "live in
Paris" CD needs identifying
Hi guys,
Hope this works, since I just changed my
subscription details. Anyway, I was looking at last.fm and noticed that The Police were in the Top
Ten most listened to bands. This gladdened my heart, but also puzzled me,
because when I clicked the link, I found two albums
listed: Greatest Hits, and this
one:
http://www.last.fm/music/The%20Police/Live%20In%20Paris
Last.fm is, as far as I can tell, a site which keeps
its finger on the pulse of what people are listening to by analysing their
i-Tunes playlists. So I thought that perhaps somebody had just ripped a
bootleg album to their hard-drive and uploaded the cover picture.
But
then I noticed that the album is listed as being on the Polydor label. The
Greatest Hits compilation is listed
under Polygram International. I'm guessing Polygram owns A&M, or maybe
distributes their artists' CDs or something, but what I don't get is why I
haven't heard of this live CD before if it's an official album. The only
official live Police album to my knowledge is the double CD from 1995,
featuring one concert from Boston and one from Atlanta - this "new" one is
supposed to have been recorded in Paris, and the tracklisting indicates that
it was from the Zenyatta
tour.
Theories?
Angeline
