hey! i still have yet to hear ANY of the new album, the only knowledge i have of it is what has been revealed from you all. that being the case, i must concur with don and some of the more recent posts regarding the b-sides. while admitting that there is no better arranger (and/or re-arranger)in popular music today than sting, i would rather their he put out NO b-sides than to put out inferior rehashes of older police/solo material, this just for the sake of prompting the fanatics to buy the cd-singles. hopefully, is motives for keeping the new album at 10 songs are noble. but i have my suspucions, as i always do when it comes to sting. i am still trying to figure out why "the end of the game" - a great song - was not included in its entirety in the usa version of BND. there stills seems no reason for it - other than to force me and others to get it on a b-side. who knows? i may not detest BND so much if 'end of the game' (complete version) was on it. lord knows it would have made that album better... now in the firelight, the case continues... rich --- Don Morris <donmorris0826@hotmail.com> wrote:
Maggie,

I agree, 10 songs seems like the extent of Sting's range when making CDs. Are you sure that he doesn't have a "prelude" among those 10 songs? BND was 9 songs and an intermission. On top of that, why the hell can't he make some quality B-sides, as opposed to remixing songs from previous albums?
A 2003 remix of Moon over Bourbon Street? In my personal opinion, that song was by far the most annoying one performed on his last tour, why torture the Japanese with a remix of that song? Shape of my Heart acoustic? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
The lone "true" B-side from BND (End of the Game [full]) was by far a gem of a song.
Just because you're massively successful doesn't mean that fans will settle for what you give them. Coldplay for example continues to include B-sides on their CD-single releases. I'm sure that they haven't rested on their laurels despite their current blooming success.
Here's a novel idea: take the three songs from the Police reunion and put that on a CD-single. At least it's "sort of new".
