Hi, I've been listening to one of the Paul Simon / Sting concerts, and wondered if anyone who's managed to get to one of the shows knew who the band members are? At one point Paul Simon says how great it is to play with Sting's band, and the way the drum riff in 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover isn't quite right suggests that Vinnie Colaiuta might be on drums for the entire thing, but at other points in Paul Simon's part of the set it sounds so much like other recent performances I've seen from Paul Simon that I assume Paul Simon's brought in part of his standard touring band. Tonight's Great Performances on PBS is a concert of The Last Ship. 9 PM eastern as far as I can tell. Check local listings, as they say! I don't think it's the stage show, it's just a performance of the music. I also read a blurb recently that they got a theater on Broadway to run the show this fall. And I can't believe that it's almost Sting/Paul Simon concert time! I'm going to the performance in Hershey on March 9th. Anyone else going? Stay warm and drive carefully, everyone in the US; If the polar vortex doesn't getcha, the bombogenesis (freaky weather term) will![?] Have a great weekend! Holly

Well, As with previous Sting albums of which I was disappointed, I'm turning. I've often heard true musicians make music for themselves (or the cat), thus not every album impacts you immediately. In fact the albums I have adored the longest, took time to enjoy. Then the tipping point happens and you can't understand what you DIDN'T hear before! By virtue of the fact it is a Sting album, I've given it more of a chance than I ordinarily would - Thankfully. 'tis a great album ! Two thumbs and 1.6 halluces up. ~r

But not when it’s an amphitheater away from the stage. A $100 seat, ok, I’ve paid that in in the past, but it put me literally in the front row of a U2 show, leaning on the stage. I just can’t see dropping hundreds of dollars on a seat for a show like this (which is two of the artists I have loved the most in my life) when I can pay $30 to go see a band like Gaelic Storm in a tiny venue where you’re part of the party. I know everyone’s got their own value equation to do, but for me, it’s just not worth it any more.
