I think the fan club price is a rip-off in the sense that every commercial operation that thinks it can get away with doing so charges not what something's worth, but what they think the demographic group the thing is aimed at will pay for it. And from what I can make out, Police fans are mainly around their late 30s/early 40s and have got to the stage of being financially comfortable or at least secure, with the disposable income to fork out for a concert or three. Which kind of sucks if any of that doesn't apply to you, but then I'm just glad I didn't repeat my two-time mistake of paying for the Sting fan club when it first changed from the old Outlandos model. re: Europe, I see that June 22nd is still empty; indeed it's in the middle of a six-day gap. Which could mean a vocal rest period, or could mean more dates to be scheduled in the places that promoters can't really be arsed about, like Belfast. I'm still holding out hopes that the rumours I've heard make sense, and actually considering going. I can maybe get a lift with someone, and my (non-fan) boyfriend has gallantly told me he doesn't need to come, which saves me the cost of one ticket, making another concert suddenly not Rampant Extravagance but merely Unusually Large Expenditure On One Thing, which I can cover by selling some old CDs (need to de-clutter anyway). Because I'd be mad at myself forever if I missed the one time that they played in my town. Now, confirm the concert already!! Angeline PS Elvis Costello? I also do not think I will renew: can't afford it. but I will say I met some great people via the boards there, and I certainly don't regret that. I am sure, however, I will regret renewing at $100 when in all likelyhood it will be a moot point in a few months. SoCalJen THINK BLUE! so what do people think about the Police website charging 100 dollars for little crap. The Police will be no more and STing will have moved on with his solo career. AS for myself, I was really satisfied when they create "The PoliceTour.com" and when my membership was already valid through my STING.COM membership ..... so I don't lose anything... and I could have amazing seats down in MIAMI last july .... Nevertheless, I really understand the angryness of all those who came only when The PoliceTour website was created .... I have to disagree with whoever said that Sting's solo career will be over. I think he will be reenergized by the tour and maybe produce some of his most amazing work ever. Also, having seen the Police for my first and only time this past summer, I have to say that, while I loved the show, it *was* all their old hits,and though it was an amazing experience, it probably can't be repeated. The thing about these reunited band tours -- all of them, not just the Police -- is that they are once-in-a-lifetime experiences for the most part, and offer little or nothing new; they are mainly for longtime fans who know what to expect and are willing to pay for it anyway! A last word about fan clubs: I was a $5 junior member of the Beatles fan club in the mid-60's, and that is the last fan club I belonged to! ;-) Holly in snowy PA
