The Ten Summoner's Tales video is different from Summoner's Travels. The latter is stuff from that tour; the former is a video of them recording the album at Sting's studio in Lake House. Despite a few times when the sound quality is inexplicably fuzzy, it's worth watching for little instrumental flourishes that aren't on the album (what the heck happened to that nice little cascadey thing in Seven Days? and I'm sure that's an alt. version of Fields of Gold...), the feeling of Being There, and the moment when a double bass falls over and startles everyone. Oh, and the strangely compelling all-band, a capella version of Love is Stronger Than Justice at the end. You must watch the tape. Really. The Unplugged one is also excellent. I'm still looking to get back to the person who asked me about b-sides; I'd need to compare my list to those online... will do some digging. Ang

Fred, didn't you get booted from the ballroom at some point? ;-) During the HOF sound check they jammed When the World is Running Down and I got shivers down my spine. Christine and I were front row centre for the entire soundcheck. Andy sounded quite good but what I didn't get was why he didn't use his signature beat up Telecaster for the soundcheck or the show. I could tell Sting wasn't too impressed with Andy's sound during the soundcheck either and at one point walked over and lowered the volume on his amp!! Half-joking, half serious I'm sure. Andy of course walked over and did the same thing to Sting all in good fun no doubt. One thing that I hope sees the light of day at some point - Ian, as usual, got the entire soundcheck on video. Michelle, I know you don't regret seeing The Police live that night but it was the best night of my life having never seen or met them before. They weren't 1980 Japan or '81 Australia fantastic but they barely rehearsed together in NYC and didn't have the chops or road experience that AC/DC had. AC/DC kicked ass, took no prisoners and I'm not even that big of a fan. Maybe Andy did have a few drinks that night and the nerves/pressure played a part. Imagine all your past and present peers in one room and try not to fumble the ball. As I said, I blame it more on the different guitar used that night. Stewart rocked that night and Sting barely looked like he was enjoying himself. Who knows all the circumstances and excuses. Certainly the end left a lot to be desired and I didn't like the backup singer at all.... but this wasn't really a show for public consumption anyway. It was cobbled together by the HOF staff. Originally they were all supposed to be onstage together for I Fought The Law as a tribute to Joe Strummer but Sting probably didn't want to do that so we got EBYT as the big closing number. This is from an email newsletter I get for people in the concert/promotions industry. Really nothing new EXCEPT the mention of stadium-sized venues. NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) -- Rumors about the reuniting of legendary rock outfit The Police are nothing new to anyone who's kept abreast of such things in recent months, however, as Billboard Magazine reported, said rumors have become considerably more substantial. 2007 marks the 30th anniversary of the release of "Roxanne," the single that helped the Police 'make their bones' in the US and according to the a post on Sting's website, detailed discussions have been underway about how the anniversary will be commemorated. "While we can confirm that there will indeed be something special done to mark the occasion, the depth of the band's involvement still remains undetermined." noted the post, attributed to an un-named A&M spokesman. These remarks have fueled speculation that there may be Police dates scheduled in the US and England during 2007.
