Maybe I'm naive, but I'd like to think that they're going to get way more for those tickets than that and it'll be a charity thing... I haven't gone to ebay yet to see what it says, but that's my hope. At least they started the bidding at face value--- can you imagine if they started lower and we had seen that!!! Although I'm thrilled that there's that HOPE of getting good tickets to the shows for being a club member, I won't believe it til I see it! Those horrible feelings of The Brand New Day tour are coming back to me when I see those outrageous additional fees that are being charged once again. This time I can't blame ticketbastard for my woes (if I don't get a decent seat). Don't mind paying the fees if I get what I want! Is this show in Chicago a ticketed event? Does anyone know if list members will have early ticketing access to all shows throughout the Send Your Love tour? Are we allotted the best tickets, or just tickets---does ticketbastard, etc., get their share first then we have certain amount allotted for us? That's when I'll start regretting that deluxe membership. Ugh. I hate this feeling! The Sting of Money

How does the lyric go? "There's no religion except sex and music and lots and lots of money." For the record, tickets for Andy Summers performances usually range anywhere from $10 to $30, there are no ridiculous add-on fees except for minimal food-and-drink minimums at the clubs and dinner theatres, you get to see a master musician up close and personal with no other nonsense except for pure guitar, bass and drums (and maybe keyboards), you have direct access to Andy through just one person--his Web master, technical assistant and tour manager Dennis Smith (how many PR and marketing people do you have to go through to get to Sting?), and every one of Andy's albums has been unanimously critically hailed by serious and respected music journalists and critics, except for the one he sang on (how many other former Police members can claim that?). Don't get me wrong. I like Sting's music, and I plan to get his new album when it comes out in the U.S. As for the rest, you do the math. Maggie I've just sent an email to the seller giving them a piece of my mind. I think it sucks, and I've half a mind to cancel my membership, on account of misleading advertising. Claiming that Premium members get exclusive access to tickets, yet they're selling them on ebay cheaper?? (I paid $65 for my membership!!) And can anyone explain what this is all about when you go to purchase the tickets at sting.com (well, Ultrastar): Processing Fee ($ 2.50 - per ticket) 2 $ 5.00 Handling Fee ($ 8.70 - per order) 1 $ 8.70 Convenience Fee ($ 6.00 - per ticket) 2 $ 12.00 Facility Fee ($ 7.00 - per ticket) 2 $ 14.00 What the hell is a 'convenience fee'... Convenient? For who? They expect you to pick your tickets up at the door, so they don't even have to post them to you, and they CHARGE you for THEIR convenience???? And just what facilities are we being charged for? Is this $7 for each person to use the toilet??? I remember when people just started charging a 'Handling Fee', but now it seems we're expected to pay for the cleaners in the ticket sales office too..... There are Paris show tickets on eBay for $160 (they were $60 each from the fan club but with all the charges they were about $150 for a pair) They are being sold by the fan club itself!! In addition, you also get a premium membership in the fan club ($65 value if you didn't have the promo number to get $30 off). So, for $160, I could get what I've already paid $150 (tickets) + $35 (the membership) for!! Hey, looks like the fan club took care of us longtime members again. God, I love the fan club. Maggie

New Orleans?

Hi there, Someone had mentioned Sting and New Orleans together ... do we have details on that yet? Even sketchy ones would help. I have the choice of doing a ladies weekend there in October, but I live in fear of Sting being there the weekend I'm not! Bad person that I am, I'm afraid I'd actually bag the annual "Moms on the Loose" fest for Sting this time. Hope none of my friends are on this list! I'm bagging my 20 year HS reunion cruise for NY! Guess I'm going into Sting concert mode now. Michelle

Thanks to Sebastien for sending his love! At first, I thought this didn't sound like a Sting tune. It's a very rhythmic dance tune -- pumping bass, electric guitar, Arabian tinges. It's very different. I don't think it's like anything he's done before. And I'm sure it will get lots of radio airplay. "There's no religion but sex and music..."

Hi, It does seem expensive, specially in light of the comparison Jason makes with other fanclubs that offer similar stuff, like the CD-ROM. I can't help thinking they've got us over a barrel here. I don't want to pay an unfair price, but then I also don't want to miss out on stuff (living where I do and my circumstances being what they are, it's not like I'm going to get to many concerts, so I rely on live CDs and fan forums). It seems rather mean not to let us use major parts of the site (messageboards for instance, which are usually very handy for meeting up with other fans etc.) unless we pay up. I do have one theory - the details US-centric, what with times being listed for American zones, and the amount of money being listed only in dollars until you go through the process of form-filling (I only half-finished signing up the other day; I was busy and got distracted). I know that a large proportion of his fans are American, but there are also many fans worldwide, and it wouldn't hurt to include the price in Canadian dollars, £sterling, Euros etc. as well. I do have a theory on the price hike (apart from sheer opportunism, though that may well play a part). With the old fanclub, you'd pay different amounts depending on where you lived, because it cost more to post the magazines to some countries than others. Maybe they've decided this time just to have one big fee, which will cover postage costs all all countries? Well, off I go to make Sting a bit richer...
