So I went out yesterday to my favorite CIMS record store here in good ol' Jersey, to find my storage rack and Marvin Gaye remasters, and naturally I meander over to the "P" section to see if there is anything new/interesting. Atop the Police rack, there was a sign that said, "Buy any 2 Police remastered CDs, and get a free t-shirt! (while supplies last)" Granted I have the box set, and not about to repurchase the entire catalog, but if any of you are hard-pressed for that t-shirt (and live in my area) AND are in need of something other than the many reissued Greatest Hits compilations, then this is an added incentive for you. (I was all about the promo posters glued to the side of the rack - but had no chance in hell getting away with ripping it off without damaging it..... let alone getting out of the store with it...) :) And they didn't have my storage rack. Hello, first, I'd like to thank Anne for sending me a live version of 25 to Midnight, I like the live version even more than the studio. Hey fellow Sting fans.... Wow it has been a long time since I posted.... but things are heating up and we can't wait for the new album! I've read the previews and comments made about the new album, and I think that the new album may be the best one yet. May be a little premature to say so, but then again, I have always been amazed that as each album is released, his style , vocals, song writing capabilites etc. keep getting better and better! I guess men are like wine... they get better with age! Just a little note from a Sting fan who hasn't posted in a while. PS. My wife and I decided to purchase a replica Sting P-Bass acouple of weeks ago ( I play bass ) and we are both Sting/Police fans, so we figured what could be better than me playing/us having a Signed Sting P-Bass? Well no disrespect torwards Sting but it had to be the worst bass I have ever played. Took it back a couple days ago. Would of loved to keep it just for the signature on the neck.... maybe ine day well buy it just to hang on the wall. Joe

Actually, it *is* on another CD..... all the tracks from the 12" are all on an EXTREMELY RARE (which is such an understatement) CD-Video promo entitled Don't Stand So Close To Me (Cat. No. A&M 002). Back in the mid-1980s, as the compact disc medium made its debut and was *slowly* starting to take off (a lot of people felt like they didn't want to re-purchase their record collections) with the consumer, several record labels experimented with a format called "CD Video." The gold-colored discs contained 3 to 4 audio tracks, playable in your home compact disc player, as well as a video track playable in home laser disc players. They took a few of the most well-known artists at the time (I personally have only seen two Police issues and one U2 issue, so I'm not sure about the others, although I've heard there were a few other artists featuring this medium) and pressed something like 50-100 of these demo CDs to try to get this format to catch on, both with record manufacturers and electronics companies. Unfortunately it didn't, since at the time laser disc players were extremely high in price, and the format eventually disappeared. In any event, the 12" version of this song (i.e. the "Dance Mix") is on this CDV, along with the extremely rare live Police version of the original. (although there is a good chance that whatever you heard off of the radio could have been transferred by the station from vinyl to DAT audio or something) The worst part about these CD-Video discs is that they STILL don't play the video portion in your DVD player... even to this day, you still need to own a laser disc player.
