i can't back this up with personal experience, but i've heard that recent releases on merck recordings have a sound similar to that of "classic" idm. that's just hearsay, though.
on merck i would recommend thug (detroit-influenced idm), and machine drum's "now you know" lp. other labels with some interesting IDM artists: morr (hermann + kleine, christian kleine, styrofoam) city centre offices (more H + K, christian kleine [can you tell i like these guys?], ulrich shnauss) worm interface (plod, gimmik, jake mandell) leaf (manitoba, susumu yokota) domino (four tet, fridge, mouse on mars) specific recommendation for early autechre fans: gimmik - slow motion process (it's a little more glitchy and upbeat than ae, but some of the melodies remind me a LOT of amber) specific recommendation for those into jazzy house: susumu yokota - sound of sky (can't really describe, just try it) specific recommendation for anyone with a pulse: four tet - pause (absolutely gorgeous) -nub _________________________________________________________________ Tired of spam?
