So, what're the list members' opinions on Frenetic? I like it. Reminds me of Funny Break w/ the predominant female vocals and lighter feel than a lot of the Altogether tracks. I am a little surprised to hear the very prominant use of the same sample/sound as their remix of the Golden Girls' "Kinetic". It's a great sample, no doubt, I'm just always a little surprised to hear them reuse such noticable samples (e.g. the groovy Way Out chord sample in Meltdown). Mike

Shaun- As for recommending any other artists, nothing comes to mind except for FSOL which someone already mentioned. I think I spoke to you about the DVD when it was released. I was able to watch it on my computer also, but you only get to change the region settings 3 or 4 times. So after you watch it and want to switch back to the US region you may not be able to switch again. Make sense? Just be careful that you don't screw your laptop up. Kind of sucks that they didn't release hear in the US. FFRR better realese the Best of album here. They have to milk it for everything it's worth. Meltdown

After listening to the DVD version of Meltdown for about the 200th time, I still love it. These "epic" Orbital pieces are so amazing (e.g. The Box)... Anyone have any other electronic artists they recommend that produce pieces akin to these? The three that come to mind for me are Tangerine Dream (who I just can't seem to get interested in), JM Jarre, and FSOL (the Lifeforms EP and Cascade EP are two of my all time fav CDs). Back to lurk mode... Mike

I read that apart from the retrospective 'Work', (& ep? woo!) there's also a mix CD with some of P&P's favourite tracks by other artists out in June (or there abouts), which...(drumroll) will be part of the 'back to mine' series. Yeah, !K7 have loads of great bands - A Guy Called Gerald (whom I run a site on), Funkstorung, Smith & Mighty, as well as their excellent 'DJ Kicks' series - check them out at www.k7.com Also, on the news front, there's a new 808 State abum due shortly (check out www.808state.com for more details) - I'm going to see them live in Glasgow at the beginning of June, together with Shades Of Rhythm, and K-Klass (showing my age a bit here)! On the same subject, there's a new Bomb The Bass album out - well, actually, a compilation of his rather excellent 'Electric Tones' label (featuring some new Bomb The Bass track). This will (hopefully) feature the recent collaboration with Jack Dangers (of Meat Beat Manifesto) called simply 'Tracks'. Check out www.bombthebass.com (for a Flash jukebox) or www.electrictones.com (not much there, just a Flash logo at the moment). Finally, there's obviously the new Orbital singles ('Rest' and 'Play') featuring a reworking of the Golden Girl's 'Kinetic' called 'Frenetic', and a live version of 'Chime' - looking forward to these. And, of course, the compilation album 'Work', which (may) see a double-CD released in Japan - (rumoured on some web sites).
