My fiancee is a indie/alternative type (at least she calls it alternative) she also likes Jimmy Buffet, but unlike Rachel I couldn't stomach going to see him live and pretended to have a migrane. Fortunately she likes my tastes in music too (although she insists on calling it hip hop) We have a shared itunes library on the mac connected to the stereo, and we both tolerate each other's music (although my library outweighs hers 100:1 so it's not like I'm giving up much in terms of plays). un ----- Original Message ----- From: "billy.b" <billy.b@virgin.net> Date: Tuesday, January 13, 2004 6:46 am Subject: RE: [Orb] Everyone's girl problems [OT]
I have discovered that music policy is now one of the first things to check with any new squeeze. I endured most of last year to the strains of The Pixies, Electric Six and The Darkness (o Lord take me now) before I sawsense and realised I hadn't listened to a decent album end-to- end for a few months. I even did the honourable thing and went along to see Elvis Costello and of all bands The Bangles with her. But when it came to 'Do you fancy going to see The Orb in Hackney?' it was met with a 'not my scene, go by yourself!' so I took my ex along instead 8) Although not a full on Orbette she fully appreciates LX and inexplicably loves his baldy head (must be a girl thing) and is always asking for a rip of my latest CDs/downloads.It's so true how you don't know what you've got until it's gone 8(
Strange how girls seem to have this wonderful duplicity when it comes to things like this. I'd love to know from the girls on this list (there must be more than just our delectable Rachel) if they have any similar problemswith their blokes and their choice of music? Can a raver really co-habit in aural bliss with a rocker? My advice; if music be the food of love makesure you both like eating out at the same restaurant first.

I feel sorry for Aunty but if breakups are music related then my ex has no excuse. I never listened to anything that I liked whilst spending time with her as she called it "COMPUTER MUSIC" .
Now free I can listen to my hearts content.

The only thing my wife won't have is Autechre, and some of the other bleep-gronk-music. I'm happy about that, because she's just as big a fan of alex, youth etc, as I and she does like Orbital, Underworld and others too. Her faves are stuff from K7 (K&D), Groove Armada, Jazzanova, so I don't suffer at all really :-) --Ralph
