RE: [Orb] Music DVD recommendations anyone??
I recently saw the re-release of Baraka on the big screen, and it was freakin brilliant, if you ever get the chance to see it in the theatre, it is an experience like no other. I thought it was done by different people than the guy who did Koyaanisqatsi, etc. can anyone confirm or deny? Jason

Koyaanisqatsi and Powaqqatsi are two semi-prequels to Baraka that just came out on DVD a month or two ago. Naqoyqatsi, the sequel to them all was brilliant if you had a chance to see it, but not sure about it coming out on DVD anytime soon.

Funki Porcini - Fast Asleep
Thanks for the recommendation....
Gotta say that whilst strictly speaking not "music" per se, Baraka on DVD is well worth a watch [and the there are two sequels too]...but it has a soundtrack the whole way if that makes sense.

Godfrey Reggio and Philip Glass did the Qqatsi trilogy while only Glass worked on Baraka with Ron Fricke. Fricke also did the IMAX film Chronos. Glass was worked with Aphex Twin on a couple of tracks -- worth checking out. I think the album is Donkey Rhubarb. -----Original Message----- From: orb-admin@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:orb-admin@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of JASON HICKS Sent: Saturday, March 01, 2003 2:49 PM To: orb@mailman.xmission.com Subject: RE: [Orb] Music DVD recommendations anyone?? This should be good: The Unknown Ghosts - Transfer at Dub (Ui1030) The Unknown Ghosts is an ongoing collaboration with Witchman's John Roome at the production helm. Heavy on the beats and bass, Transfer at Dub features such artists as Alex Paterson (The Orb) as well as upcoming artists like Livstrompet and Be-1ne. Over the previous 12 months John has been touring the globe as part of the Orb (also supporting under the Witchman guise across the US) as well as adding some flavour to the new Orb album. He has contributed 2 tracks to the Ultra Chilled series. John Roome has released a fistful of Witchman albums out of the UK, including the critically acclaimed Explorimenting Beats and Heavy Traffic, plus a dub heavy release (Inferno) with Jammin' Unit of the highly influential Air Liquide - also available on Invisible Records. The last couple of years have seen John supply production work for the likes of Ian (The Cult) Astbury, The Orb and Finitribe as well dropping highly touted remixes for artists as diverse as Cornershop, Curve, Gary Numan, The Creatures, & Clawfinger etc. With more time being spent in NY, Witchman has now set up Mekong Records through Underground inc. to showcase upcoming artists dropping cutting edge vibes spanning all areas of beat making. The Unknown Ghosts is the first taste of things to come. Track Listing M aster Of Ceremonies (feat. Alex Paterson) Dreadnaught (feat. Alex Paterson) Motown (feat. Livstrompet) Reality Check (feat. Mako and Rosanne) 23 Kaboom Revolution (feat. Baby Johnson) Metro King (feat. Alex Paterson) Bronx Warriors Sleepwalkin' Kingdom Of The Eye City Of Ghosts
