Michael Moore attributes the 'american way' (of violence) to fear and denial- but he stops short f making a deeper conclusion- I don't know if he realizes what he is even saying, which is that the real cause of all this is the *first amendment*!
I don't agree with that. The first amendment didn't create our culture, it merely reflects it. Moore is starting a discussion about issues that seem to be absent in the "pop" culture's dialogue. he is asking questions more than he is pointing fingers.
If I were an energetic and ambitious expert in constitional law, I would challenge the right of the corporations to get away with this, and take it to the supreme court

That is true; but there is definitely a point in the film when he finally has explored and debunked the obvious possiblities as to why we have this problem ('so-called' possibilities- race, violent films, gun ownership, etc), and he asks, "So why is America so violent?" (paraphrasing). His answer, then, seems to be the media, or at least he begins to speak of the statistic ratio of media reported violent crime to actual incidents as a percentage within the overall populace. Your're right that he is trying to subvert the system that suppresses such discussion, but to me his thouhgts are conclusions which can only lead to one thing: the fact that the media makes money from scaring people (and so do gun makers, gas mask companies, etc., when in fact any one of us is 100,000 more likely to be hurt in an automobile, heart disease, or while sleeping than by a f'ing terrorist attack or black man w/ a gun). ===== **********compassionat.net**********
