This album's crap, let's slash the tracks
So, we have 2 long tracks on Metallic Spheres, but divided into 10 pieces. How will you cut it? Here's my choice: 1. Metallic Spheres 6:26 2. Hymns to the Sun 8:01 3. Black Graham 3:02 - the one with acoustic guitar 4. Hiding in Plain View 6:47 - the ambient piece 5. Classified 4:23 6. Es Vedra 2:42 7. Hymns to the Sun (reprise) 5:09 8. Olympic 3:19 9. Chicago Dub 1:06 10. Bold Knife Trophy 7:54 -- The Orb News ::: http://orb-news.blogspot.com
I had a good long listen to the album and overall i am pretty impressed. Strangely enough though i think that Gilmour's stuff is not always blending well with the other background music. But that's just my opinion. I would give this one a 7plus. I also finally got the Bagdad Batteries CD. I am beginning to like this one! The first track is my favorite as it sounds a bit like the old Orb sound from around 94/95: over the top dubby etc.. R

I must say that it really reminds me good, old Blue Room in it's full 40 min glory - same idea, similar use of guitarist. But i'm still not convinced is it good, or not. I have to give it more listens. And my tracks cut changed for Spheres Side: 6. Es Vedra 1:06 7. Hymns to the Sun (reprise) 3:27 8. Olympic 3:36 9. Chicago Dub 4:07 10. Bold Knife Trophy 7:53 Cheers, m -- The Orb News ::: http://orb-news.blogspot.com
On first listen I like it, although I think I hear some of the guitar work does sort of wander off on its own a bit, but I haven't heard it enough times to form an opinion. Bagdad Batteries is really great. I think it does sort of have a sound like Orbvs Terrarvm with a drum machine. The packaging is great, as always from MD. I can hone my long-neglected lemon-battery-making skills. The vinyl is worth the purchase if you like the CD. It has a Dolly Unit remix the digital versions don't have.
