Late 1991 when Ultraworld showed up on the new release shelf at CKMS FM at the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Canada. I had a midnight-2am show "Radio City Zen" (PWEI inspired), and had been getting into the Manchester scene the summer before (Happy Monday, Inspiral Carpets, etc.). I was initially intrigued by the Killing Joke connection, as I had been a huge KJ devotee, but they were in a lull period by then (before Pandemonium). LFC got a fair amount of airplay from the disc, although it had its detractors amongst the DJs at the station too :) I joined the list the fall of '93 or early '94 -- maybe later, don't quite remember :) -- when I was attending McGill in Montreal. Been on and off since then, mostly on! One of the few lists I've been on throughout my life changes over the past 8-9 years. Anybody else have stories about coming to the Orb via post-punk and the '80s college/indie scene? -- pascal
