Wow.....this list really is slowing down. Months and months are covered in just one orb digest. And this is going along with the Orbserver release taboot! Has everyone left or are we just tired? lol Anyhoo.....sad to see RMS STRINGER go. He's surely butted heads with people here in the past but I'll never forget the FTP server he offered to our community which was such a great service! Cheers! QUESTION - I don't have the "BBC Sessions" CD yet and I'm wondering if I don't already own most of it in some form. I understand part is the Strange Fruit Peel Session but my question revolves more around the "radcliffe, evening session, lamacq" portions of the compilation. Some of that rang a bell so I just went to my collection to see what I have. The strange thing is that I found a few discs worth of music I can no longer identify online. Here are the titles: -The Plateau Sessions -Lamacq Sessions 2001 -30 min improv session I know these were all downloaded somewhere on these interwebs....yet I can find a single note about ANY of them. I have no written tracklisting and I'm terrible with song names so it's going to take some work for me to put something together. Are any of yall aware of these 3 that I mention? One google search turned up a message to this list from 3/6/01 saying: "...don't forget that The Orb have FOUR session tracks being played on Steve Lamacq's show tonight and tomorrow between 8-10pm on BBC Radio 1 in the UK. i'll be recording the tracks for upload to an ftp site (probably Chain Reaction) as soon as i can. Smiley" Anyone have any ideas at all here? I'm totally lost! All the best everyone - and wake up the Orb still rules! ;) Ken
Hi Ken, The list is in a little dip, true. I guess times change, and everyone is using FB also? The plateau mixes, I have a bunch of mixes, at least 5, but I have no idea if they were part of a "session". Interesting though, as I love that track! The Lamacq Orb session I also have (20 minutes), but also lacking any description, notes etc. From what year is this "30 min improv session"? Can you guess a bit? It could be from the "Kiss FM" era. anyway,Ramon From: seedybrick@hotmail.com To: orb@mailman.xmission.com Date: Mon, 26 Nov 2012 12:30:20 -0500 Subject: Re: [Orb] Orb Digest, Vol 101, Issue 1 Wow.....this list really is slowing down. Hey Smiley, Nice to see you back on the list! It's been quite quiet on the list indeed. Certainly not tired on this side: going to see them in Enschede next Friday! As for your questions: The BBC sessions contains the whole of Peel Sessions I, most of Peel Sessions II (Valley is omitted) and additional sessions from Lamacq, Radcliffe and an Evening Session all previously unreleased. The Lamacq sessions you mention were of a later date (on the disc is 1998, yours are the 2001 recordings, including EDM et cetera). The Plateau sessions are from the tapes that Robert Jan Bijleveld distributed on the famous Orb MP3 Tree (all recorded at 256 ), one track was released on the bonus disc of Orbus Terrarum (All Hands On Deck - 2AM). That Improv session does ring a bell, but not sure about the origin. Could this be of the Orblivion era? I recall something about a webstream that hosted on the Orblivion site, might very well be that recording. I'll see if I can dig up a bit more. The Orbserver album is just great, the combination works very well. I read that there are plans for a sort of 'Aubrey Mixes' version of Orbserver. When I find more info, I'll notify the list of course.
