Stuff about your FTP doesn't bother me at all. A lot of people can get some really hard to find orb track off of there. It's a great alternative to the OAA, and moresounds, etc... plus, it's good to know that it's still friendly. Oftentimes, one of the other FTPs will be down for a while, and then we'll get half a dozen posts saying "what happened to the OAA, I tried to access, but it's down?!?!?!?!" well, people, these servers are hosted on home machines, and therefor not always available... try again later. and as for the header munging. I hate it. Headers should not be munged. With "reply to sender", a person can reply soley to the original sender by simply pressing "reply", or they can reply to the list and the original sender by pressing "reply-all" and of course, then they can delete the original sender's address from the "to:" field to save bw, or not... Now, with the emails with munged headers... press reply... goes to the list.. press reply-all... goes to the list, what's the easiest way to reply only to the original sender? copy-paste, and that's often a pain in the ass. just my thoughts...
Thank YOU for your feedback. U r right, it is on my home machine and I have about 98% UPTIME on my Win2000 Pro box. I haven't seen it mentioned yet, so... The I (heart) Serge - Electronica Gainsbourg compilation has been released domestically in the US, on Pagan; if you didn't want to pay import prices, now is your chance to pick it up. Does anyone know if the Orb track is a remix or a new recording? The credits for the Orb track are slightly different than most of the other tracks, "mixed" as opposed to "remixed". I don't know the original, so I can't say either way. BTW, does anyone have an extra, original (no CD-Rs) copy of Ambient Meditations 2 available for trade? Or an extra "Blood and Fire" CD (the one with the Keith Hudson remix)? I've been looking for both for a while, and haven't managed to find either...and before doing the online thing, I thought I'd try to trade. I have scads of extra copies of rare and not-so-rare Orb goodies to trade... :) Chris

It's definitely a remix (in fact, the original was so good that LX & co didn't add that much...) JCFromParis --
Hey gang, Is there any truth to the rumours about The Orb or Alex P. being involved in the trance remixes that came out in the 90s? i.e. Pink Floyd, Jarre and others. Best regards, Glenn
Nope. Some punk took some (IMHO badly done) samples from orb songs and just pasted them over PF tracks. Mostly they're of pretty low quality and personally I'm kinda pissed off taht everyone assumes that they actually were done by the orb; the quality of these tracks is so far below what orb tracks usually display, plus doesn't it seem a little annoying that they basically just used samples from existing orb albums? Lame!

Since you asked... I do think you might be tooting your horn a touch too often for my taste. Content in addition to "Upload to my ftp" and "How do I do this?", (*and*, in fairness, the occasional "Download from my ftp") would be a show of good faith, but isn't strictly necessary. Bear in mind however that: 1) You are below the level at which I'd actually consider (politely) taking you to task, especially considering that you *are* providing a public service. 2) I'd personally never tell you to stop, but would, if the need arose, ask you to either consider posting the same stuff somewhat less often, or include actual new content with your posts. 3) You did ask. :) I'm not trying to be the list-police; just sharing my views; feel free to do whatever you'd like...just extend that same freedom to the rest of us... Also, the old version of the list set the reply to the sender, and there were just as many, if not more, complaints; Lazlo can't please everyone...deal with it. ;) Chris (who has never been able to access your ftp either, but hasn't tried too hard) np: v/a - Thursday Teatime 4/19/00 RMStringer wrote:

This mail service blows the previous service away. The previous service had trouble replying with quoted text, which I'm sure many of you remember. Also, I remember that several of us were having trouble with posting to the list at all. Any confusion, or complaints attributed to this service is due to preference, not function. Second, I for one wouldn't mind seeing the FTP posts repeated and updated, because sometimes shit happens and information gets lost. Its pleasing to know that we can find up to date ftp info here. Lastly, what the fuck do you mean by "below the level at which I'd actually consider taking you to task"? On Monday, January 21, 2002, at 02:26 PM, Chris Johnson wrote:
