For what it's worth: The Orb list was temporarily switched to moderated status over the weekend because people started complaining about the volume of off-topic flamage that was being posted. It went back to open posting on Monday, except for a handful of people who had been posting personal attacks on other list members. Those folks are on moderated status until they've demonstrated that they can go a few days without trying to provoke people. They could have been banned from the list altogether, and *will* be banned in the event of further abuse of the list as is provided for in the posting guidelines. He had a couple of offtopic messages rejected over the weekend, as did everyone else who attempted to post offtopic messages over the weekend. He hasn't been booted. If he posts or lurks, stays or leaves, it's his own decision. Finally: most listmembers, myself included, have no problem with the occasional drift of conversation into non-Orb territory. Protracted off-topic arguments, on the other hand, should be taken elsewhere. I have no doubt there's demand for a place where Orb fans the world over can join in good fellowship to argue about health care, corporatism and Noam Chomsky whilst quietly giggling to themselves at the secret thrill of calling one another "naughty" words in public...but that place is not this list.
