FW: Off topic - M.B.M album/concert update
Album's due out the 24th and see below for concert dates. Cheers http://www.brainwashed.com/mbm/meat.html Jack Dangers' latest album continues to push the envelope. Jack was one of the main innovators of electronic music in the 1990s. Nowadays he has turned his attention to merging electronic music with jazz. At The Center is a hypnotic synthesis of the two worlds. These compositions feature rhythms similar to those found on earlier Meat Beat Manifesto releases...but the instrumental layers are quite different. The songs on this album are extremely fluid and trippy and feature the talents of Craig Taborn (keyboards), Dave King (drums), and Peter Gordon (flute). In many cases, the music on this disc sounds otherworldly and peculiar...and yet those solid funky rhythms somehow manage to hold things together nicely. This album may lose many early MBM fans but if so...those early fans will, in the end, be the real losers. Excellent material from a man who is still in his prime. (Rating: 5+) - LMNOP Meat Beat Manifesto is touring for the first time in years. Been done before... Mainly by Squarepusher with "Music is Rotted One Note", but others have done so as well. That being said, I'll most likely pick up this album, and probably be at the chicago show. Sean
"Before" - whoopee - Jazz had been done before Brubeck, and classical before Bach.... I.e, no offense meant really, but Jack Dangers is phenomenal talent and I can't wait to see what he does with this direction. T

None taken. I guess what I was meaning to say was I think Jack Dangers is a phenominal artist. I just can't stand how sometimes music journalists write about artists. But alas, it seems to be a nessessary evil. Sean
