dithering is interesting i think digi still has a way to go when you want to turn a 24 bit signal into a 16 bit signal say for burning onto cd what you do is apparently fire a high frequency signal into the audio and then remove it the other side of the calculation when you are transfering 24 bit to 16 bit there are lots of calculations that have bits left over and these have to be smoothed out you would notice these most on a classical recording section where the level is low effectively making the recording a lower sample rate that becomes kind of crunchy im just trying to learn about this its kind of confusing for a dumb ass like me im kind of fascinated by the difference between analog and digi though digi feels like a cheat - it doesnt feel real sometimes i can hear the bits going by shit my life is going digi - help! i get sleepy when my laptop batteries run low HELP! auntyxxx
