I briefly compared Perpetual Dawn from the original and the new release.

The only difference I could tell was that it was louder. So just turn your old release up to 11.

Keep in mind this isn't a "Remixed and Remastered" release (afaik). & its not some old jazz recording that the higher quality masters have been found and its being put out on DVD audio or SACD.

Kinda annoying that no unreleased stuff was added. If they redo uforb, hopefully it will be better.

I haven't got this myself yet, but I've read a comment from some forum about the remaster:

This remaster is awkward. Very awkward. They pumped the volume, which may sound like a good thing, but when you get to the percussive delay section in the middle of "Supernova at the End of the Universe" you'll see the flaw. The delay effect gets louder, and in the original release, the music did not get any quieter to compensate. That's why the album is so quietly mastered originally. Anyhow, on this release, all the volume is pumped up and that delay effect causes the other sounds around it to diminish in volume... So, what I'm tellin' ya is this is not the hottest remaster ever done.

Make what you will of that, he seems to know what he's on about - I'm still undecided if I'll buy it myself since I have originals of the rare tracks, anyway.
