No particular order: Todd Rundgren-A Wizard a True star (1st trip) Ott-Blumenkraft (stand alone record) Art of noise-( couldn`t prefer one) Shpongle-Remixed Michael Brook-(solo & nusrat lp is great but can`t get a hold of the Nooten one--any good?) Hybrid-(a class apart in up-tempo breakbeat-down-tempo is good also) -(that Orb track they re-mixed totally rocks) Fehlmann-(sometimes!) Nick Warren-Back to mine (was pretty good) Pentatonik-5 Angels (anyone heard this one?) Code 46 (soundtrack)-interesting Talk Talk and Mark Hollis (solo)--has some moments Compilations---A.I.-Feed your head-Below 110-1,2 and 3 A.D. etc. (These are well-assembled) Regular Fries- some of the remixes ultramarine-Belair-e.w.i.a.s. Gary Numan's --Hybrid (makes you sad and scared) Cocteau Twins-The later stuff (whirlpool of sound, at times) Robert Miles -Organik Sasha-Airdrawndagger (not a dance record-you feel like a cloud!! and last but not least at this time...... The Casa Loma Orchestra-1930-1934 (you exit a time machine) That's it for now and thanks for your suggestions, I've picked up some great stuff from off of this list..... Patster

1. Peter Benisch! Peter Benisch! Peter Benisch! (aka FPU) Beautifully composed electronic tracks; way out there; intimate; organic. a. Check out Soundtrack Saga on Turbo Records b. Find, however means possible, the following albums: 'Lindego', 'Waiting for Snow'. 2. Gotta with Stringer: Dark Side of the Moog series. Darker, but a real nice head trip. Also check out Namlook's AIR series.

<< Here's my one requirement. I want to be tripped out. To me, it seems like the Orb and FSOL are in a camp all by themselves, in the sense that they both write very dense psychedelic epic music. Artists like sphongle and boards of canada are amazing in their own right, but don't have the grand vision of say, a stanley kubrick film or a pink floyd album. Is there anything out there that will satisfy my needs? >> some good recommendations have already been made, especially for warly Tangerine Dream. i personally like _Phaedra_, but _Alpha Centauri_ is a great one as well. here are a few other, off the wall suggestions for truly epic albums: - "Bitches Brew" by Miles Davis - if you can't stand Jazz Fusion, then go back and hit Miles' "Sketches of Spain", which is more subtle, but amazing. - "The Psychedelic Sounds of the" 13th Floor Elevators. just re-released on vinyl out of Italy, and definitely worth hearing. - "F# A# Infinity" by Godspeed You Black Emporer -- their first and still their best. this is epic and dark. there is a lot of great music out there, just keep looking. 2 cents worth on Thailand

My 2 cents worth on Thailand from (ahem) a reliable source: Having been spoilt by the occasional thai sti ck in UK, this chap (I know well), had great expectations for Thailand. Perhaps he was unlucky but he ended up very disappointed. Keen for an image change the government seems on a strong crackdown generally, so take care! In Bangkok all the street hustlers he encountered tried to sell him some sort of tobacco shit (doesn't work at all!), and the last thing you want to be doing is examining your purchase on the street corner. Down south was a slightly different story, Koh Samui and Phi Phi island were both great - mainly due to the help of fellow travelers (and not street hustlers). Still cannot believe that much of Phi Phi island was wiped out - at the time I thought it was paradise (poor souls). Never got to the north, but one traveler I met talked of a mountain trip out of Chaing Mai for more alternative smokes - (he was generally full of bull, so not sure on this). Not much help really but I'm sure you will have fun anyway!! Take the Mp3 player - nothing better than orb'n'erb on a tropical beach. P.S: it's hard to buy papers, so hide some in your baggage. P.P.S: recommendation the next time you are in s.e.asia: the shroom omelet's in Bali were much more to my liking.
