"One of Our Submarines" is also amazing. I found that "Aliens Ate My Cadillac" album to be really sad. After the utter genius of Flat Earth is was such a shameless attempt at a hit album. No amount of Van Halen guitar can save a fake and he was faking it with that album. Dolby is one of the first people I've heard of that used a Fairlight (sp?) to the extent he did. That was the first version of Acid in a hardware version... How much were those things, anyway? Weren't they like $100k back when that was the value of a couple of houses? The mix of "Blinded Me With Science" that is on the lp I've got is very different from the radio or MTV versions. Those kind of songs, songs that are about one thing AND something bigger or smaller or whatever... beautiful. I passed a copy of that Neo-Auntie Aubrey off to a friend last weekend. I've forgotten again who made that but I'd like to repeat that you rock! We were rock climbing and he heard it playing in my car before we headed off to the next cliff. I don't know if he's heard it but I'm sure he'll like it. I had no idea he liked the Orb until Blue Room popped up in my car's mp3 player when we went camping the first time I went rock climbing. You just never know where you'll find a fellow Orby. Did I mention I started rock climbing? You know what that means? It means I'm better than all you sadsacks that don't rock climb. :) That's not true but I'd just like to say it's so ridiculously fun everyone who can should do it and those that can't should come watch. I want to be doing it right now. And no, it doesn't bother me very much that it feels like a gorilla has tried to twist my arms out of the shoulder socket. That's right about the video game soundtracks. I met him either 4 or 5 years ago when he was working on a game soundtrack (still have an autographed t-shirt from him for whatever the game was). John Wintemute Original message reads: Thomas fucking Dolby Robert Smorgasbrod (or something). He was one of my heroes as well. I got his first album on vinyl and later on cd, with She Blinded Me With Science as extra. Pity that the cd also messes up the tracks from the first album and even omits one track, but added 2 other tracks as well. 'Through The Airwaves' still gives me the shivers. Flat Earth is something I only have on vinyl and I even bought the Howard The Duck soundtrack as mister 'May The Cube Be With You' was heavily involved on that one. Later on I heard he was into game-soundtrack composing... Felix

while speaking of Dolby, a notable mention is Bruce Woolley and the Camera Club. Does everyone go to bed early? are you all on Grenwich mean time? I was up late last night bored as hell and considered sending a post, but I woulda hadta type it on a Startac phone that came filled with candy. I finally picked up Artificial Intelligence #1, I think I remember people posting about it 4 years ago, (before I got kicked) and I can't believe Dr. Alex is on it, w/Rich as Dice man, black dog, and that prick Richie Hawtin. WOW! what significance huh? I mean, I threw away the disk and kept the booklet (ok i didnt but i coulda) cuz its the book thats worth the 17 clams. I will be studying the people's top 5 lists and sworn influences for months to come.
