I can't explain how my cd-r collection ended up where it was. The cd-wallet turned up in my garage... kind of out in the open. On the floor. I've been working back there constantly for four days. It's almost as if it appeared because it couldn't have been where I found it without having stepped on it repeatedly over the last few days. To make it even more bizarre, absolutely no one has been in that garage or even on my property for days. My whole portable cd-r mp3 concept has just been radically altered. I'm going to make about four cds of favorite albums and put them in the pocket on the back seat of my car and put another set with my discman. Then I'll just have a disposable cd-r of the month kind of thing. I've got stuff in that wallet I've never even gotten to hear. Tons of stuff I got off the old Chain Reaction ftp (a moment of silence, please... ) I know I'd never either be able to replace or even remember, other bits and pieces of rare stuff all my wonderful friends (you know who you are) have provided me over the years, and original music by friends who have fucked up and destroyed the masters. Tons of that kind of stuff. So let's all think about data back-up, shall we? Thanks for your supportive e-mails and stuff. Any promised exchanges will still gladly be made! Thomas Felhmann in SF

Hey Orbsters! Just got back from seeing Thomas Felhmann live in SF - he was absolutely brilliant (and that's not just the pot cookies talking). I really recommend catching him if he's coming your way. To be honest, I've never been completely bowled over by his releases, but seeing him live was such a treat! For an encore, he played Cool Harbour - I was a happy girl! I grabbed him after, mainly to babble and say how much I enjoyed his set. He clearly enjoyed himself too, as he was dancing behind his gear the entire time. The subject of the Orb came (not sure how... doo d'do) and he mentioned Bicycles & Tricycles coming out in March 04, and that the latest mastering was great (compared to the Japanese version), and was overall very enthusiastic about it. I'll chip in my collection of orb mp3 goodies (16 CD'sPretty much everything but teatimes and some live recordings). All I ask is for one of your band's CD's for trade... OT Slang

When rock climbing we occasionally will refer to something as being "rad." Then we look embarrassed because it's such a stupid fucking word. I'm still learning all the other climbing slang. I guess it's like surfing slang or whatever. I think it's a bit funny how the British and US drinking slang fails to meet. You say, "Pissed" which to us means "angry," for instance. Well. My lack of a big hard drive (search the archives for me and SCSI to understand why) has come back to bite me on my ass. Easily two thirds of my mp3 collection dissappeared early this week. I last saw them sitting on my front seat and I remember thinking to myself, "Don't leave them there because they're just inviting theft." Now my hope is that I brought them in thinking I'd consolidate some of the artists and copy some cd-r's with sticker labels so I can put them in my car and I set them in a bizarre location and my cat has knocked them behind something. At this point I'm inclined to believe they're gone. Regardless I can't find the 100+ cd-rs anywhere.
