So I was wondering why do I keep having to subscribe to this list? Now it's orb(a)mailman.xmission.com I get no warning, just one day the mail stops coming until I try to send a message, then is returned with the prompt "message waiting for review - nonmember" WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING? It is possible that the interviewer was confusing 'Chill Out' with the Space album, which was recorded originally as an Orb album by Jimmy and Alex, then they split up and Jimmy kept the master tapes (since they were recording in his house at Trancentral), reworked it, removed Alex's contributions and added some others of his own, finally releasing it on KLF Communications. There were infamous weekend- long parties held at Trancentral though. Patterson will have had some guiding/inspirational input to 'Chill Out', but it's really the interplay between Bill and Jimmy that makes the KLF great. 'Chill Out' is unquestionably a KLF record - just listen to steel guitars and sheep noises." Personally, love the album - very difficult to get hold of now, apart from bootlegs. Groovetech question

hello, i am trying to pinpoint a favorite (though little heard) groovetech session which does not appear to be available for listening on the site anymore. i am wondering if it's the July 31, 2001 set. unfortunately the only things i can remember: 1.) there is a song over which two men are talking - they are Japanese, and at the end, i think one of the men asks the other if he understands - and the answer is no. the track leads into something really quite moody. Also 2.) towards the end of the 3 hours there's a long and rhythmic piano laden song which i don't think carries an actual beat. And 3.) Maybe somewhere within the set we hear the Moby story - but i think he's used it twice, so i'm afraid of confusing people. if you know which set I'm talking about, please let me know which date that is. and if it's on one of the open and available ftp sites, I would appreciate being pointed in the right direction. I do not see it on moresounds.........otherwise i can attempt a trade if emailed off the list. but i don't think i have anything that qualifies as rare orb material anymore! Thank you so much. I have been able to turn some people on the orb, and I have been just as successful in getting others to look at me strangely and avoid me. At least the people at work avoid me, allowing mer to do my job in peace. Double edge, twice the fun. Musical Starstreams is a radio program out of CA and bills' itself as the "exotic side of radio." They have an archive of their set lists for the programs going back to 1997 with yr 2000 having links to the sets in m3u format, making working for the man that much more enjoyable. each program is approximately 2 hours longs and you are free to download the show in mp3 format. -- A while ago, someone mentioned an Orb remix that was done for DHS : House of God It seems that on Monday, this single has been re-released in UK, one cd, two 12". No orb remix, though. Raleigh, N.C. Being a college town one would hope/expect there to be all kinds of musical tastes and the same to be represented in the local indy record shops. Seems I am strangely alone on the orb and other related artists. I get a lot of my "check these guys out" from listening to Musical Starstreams and comparing what I like to the set lists. A good starting place for songs is http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?orb which is an albiet somewhat out of date discog, maintained by the same dude who (coincidentally) runs this mailing list. Its a greatresource for finding out about those early remixes the boys did that were basically never re-released. Personally, I would highly recommend the Keiichi Suzuki, Sun Electric, and the "Higher than the Sun" remixes. Looking ... finding .. like what I see. Yeah finding orb stuff at random in a store is actually somewhat unusual. Often its released in limited runs or as promos and then once all copies are snapped up you're up the proverbial creek. Ebay is good, and www.gemm.com has about a 40% success rate. Checked them out, signed up. Waitinjg for the checking account to grow fat again, then burn. Well lets see, I would again suggest the discography. Alex has done some remixes and work with system 7 as well as some early stuff with members of KLF. Youth is so prolific its not even worth getting into his side projects, remixes, and the like (he was in a band called killing joke and has remixed everyone from the sugarcubes to mike patton and is the propreitor of Dragonfly records, a HUGE HUGE goa trance label) added to the to-do list. The list is bigger than the bank roll...time for a second job. :) Stay a while. Plan to. So far, I have been treated well. :) > How do trades work here, if at all allowed? Ask for stuff and you will responses. Offer stuff and expect the same. :) Before I ask for anything or offer up mp3s that I have, I would like to get a list of what is IN PRINT and out of print.
