Hi Jerry, I was very happy with the short shaft HONDA 2 HP engine, but having said that, let me put in the qualifiers: I used sit on lakes, and mostly when it was calm - i.e., I couldn't sail. The San Francisco Bay sailors may have a different opinion because of the wind against the tide conditions they might face, and the types of waves they see. For calm conditions - motoring home - or getting away from or back to a dock, I found the short shaft HONDA ideal. Additional comments anyone?
