Thanks for the response guys glad to know I am still connected.. Just got the new furler and Jib mounted. Now all I have to do is lead the furling line to the cockpit. If the weather holds out should be able to get it done over the weekend. Then all that needs doing is hull polishing and bright work touch up (1 wk max 2). Still highs barely reaching 50 and cold north winds here just below the Mackinaw bridge. Did a bunch of new things to the boat all of which have had little to no sea(lake) trials. Michigan is like that. It is 42 deg and raining in Valparaiso,IN so no boat prep today. I will be crewing on a 38' Erickson in Aug from Michigan City, IN to Mackinaw the owner is delivering his boat to The West Coast of Florida over the next 3 years thru the St Lawrence Seaway. Hope to do Lake Erie next year and the Atlantic the year after. Hi all, Does anyone have an "original" M-17 traveler (early model - mounted just aft of companionway/front of cockpit) they'd like to sell me? Or know where I can get a used one? I have not decided exactly what to do with the big huge Harken windward sheeting traveler that a previous owner install on my M-17, but I'm not likely to keep it as installed (described in past posts - bolted to the top of the cockpit seats just aft of companionway, getting in the way of ingress/egress and sitting on that part of the seat and lounging on that part of the seat). I could cut it down and mount it on the cockpit floor, but with the width of the car and the width of the end stops/blocks it would only give me about 6" of windward sheeting either side of center (and become a toe-banging object instead of a shin-banging object). I am checking to see if the car on it is larger than necessary - there are three sizes, the smallest more than adequate for the M-17 sail area. cheers, John S. Hi John, I have the one I took off my 1977 M-17 which was one of the floor mounted tracks right in front of the companionway. the ends, car and rail are all here. I moved my newer one up to a teak step which I mounted athwart the cockpit just under the companionway sill. There it gave me better sheeting angles yet was not a "tripper, shin banger and it offered a bit better footing as a step into the cabin. I was able to plug up a half dozen holes in the cockpit sole where the bolts ran through. I guess $30 would be about right plus postage.
