It's only 10 days until the start of the 'round the US trailer sailing trip. I am taking my lap top and will be able to access the internet, and this site while on the road. Some people have provided great information about Pensacola Bay/Perdido Bay, and it looks like I'll get to the area on late Wednesday May 14 and sail there - and Perdido Bay - for a week or ten days. The next stop will be in Corpus Christi, Texas. Does anyone have information on where to launch, where to leave the truck/trailer, where to go, what to see? I want to sail a bit along North Padre Island, but have time to sail a fair amount in the area. As always, anyone who wants to sail along at any of the stops is very welcome to do so. You might want to launch out on Padre Island National Seashore. You turn right at the Bird Island Basin sign just after entering the National Seashore where you pay your entry fees. I've sailed there and the good wind with smooth water is a blast. You will find a large number of windsurfers there as well. I'm between sail boats right now or I'd try and meet you down there. You have 100+ miles of fairly protected water to the south. You do need a chart if you venture out of the Intracoastal Waterway as it can be quite shallow. Hi John I'm envious of your extended sailing agenda, after July this year I'll have more free time & perhaps range out a bit farther with my boat. If you have a mind to sail Galveston Bay when you pass thru Houston call me & I can show you some good sailing in this area and the best places to eat.
