Re: M_Boats: rowing an m15
montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com. Hi Fellow sailors, A couple of questions. We have a 2003 M15, "Becca Anne". 1. A porti-potti for this Model? Which model will fit the newer M15's? 2. rowing- I've thought about adding side mounted oar lock sockets and oar locks and wondered if anyone else has dome this project? Regards, Randy W. Texas jazzmanrandy@hotmail.com
I believe that Starwanza that was sailed to ...uh...South Africa was it? had a special set of oar locks made for it by Garhauer that actually attached to the sailtrack and allowed it to be rowed with 12' breakdown oars. I think that's right....someone out there will know...
The site for Strawanza is http://www.msogphotosite.com/m17strawanza.html and you can see the oar lock towers. Note that the genoa track was upgraded to a 1.25" track. BTW does anyone know if Willie ever made it to South Africa? The last rumor I heard he was near Figi and his rudder broke and he was waiting to get an Idasailor sent to him. It just dawned on me that the M17 has a genoa track. I don't believe the M15 has them. Randy, I have a 2009 M-15. The Thetford Model 135 fits in my boat snugly and securely. The board to complete the v-berth will fit on top w/out interference if you push the PP all the way down in the "well" area. BTW, I use some of that rubberized shelf liner to make the fit even a bit tighter than it would otherwise be. Randy, Rick Langer modified his M15 and installed oar locks on the side. I have copied him as I am not sure he is still on the Mlist. Randy: I think the porta potti 135 still fits M15's. --Gary Hyde 2005 M17 #637 sailboat 'Hydeaway 2' On Aug 30, 2010, at 8:09 AM, Randy Watkins wrote:
