Hi Sandra, What you need is a jib down haul. The jib down haul is a thin line - I used a 1/8" Dacron line - tied to the jib halyard snap. Run it down inside the jib hanks, to a small block at the stem fitting and then back to the cockpit. On LEPPO I had some fairleads on deck so running the line was no problem, and I had jam cleats on the port forward side of the cockpit coaming, which would hold it in place. Naturally, you need a jib halyard that you can operate from the cockpit. The routine is then to release the jib halyard, and at the same time haul in on the jib down haul line. The jib will be on deck, and since it's head is held down by the down haul line, it can't go anywhere. Hauling in slightly on your jib sheet will also keep it in place till you can put a gasket on the jib. Connie
