Re: M_Boats: CornDog's Custom Sails
There were some pretty fast 17's in the San Juans this year, so CornDog didn't spend as much time out in front of the pack as on some cruises. But I totally agree with the pleasure, maybe even obsession, of tinkering with the sails, shifting weight around... whatever will make the boat do her best at all times. We're going to have to get these classic yellow sister ships together some time! Larry On Wed, 15 Jul 2009 03:50:58 GMT "bownez@juno.com" <bownez@juno.com> writes:
Well Larry,
If you like to tinker with your sails, I feel you have the correct approach judging by Corndog's illustrious history of speed in the San Juans. But of course, if you are like me, one of the great pleasures of sailing is always having lines, sails, rudders, and do-dads to putz with! My boat came with the original Armstrong sails. I replaced them in the late 90's. I did perform the loose-foot mod to the Armstrong main. I'll see how she performs on my classic yellow M17 "Bonita".
Later,
Bones
