If anyone has any input about anchors for the M15 I would appreciate some input. I plan initially to just bay crusie, mostly 20-35 feet of water. Mostly sand and grassy bottoms, not much rock. Basically a lunch hook. Also would like a 'overnight' anchor for same conditions. Thanks, enjoy the feedback. Steve M15 #612 __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Steve, I use a small Bruce as my basic anchor. My Danforth knockoff lunch hook has dragged on occasion but the Bruce with about 16 feet of chain has never budged from where to was planted. It is unbeatable in mud and sand. The only disadvantage is stowing the unusual shape of the Bruce. Joe Kidd M14 #207 "Poco A Poco"
Generic anchoring question: Would everyone agree the proper-sized and Bruce and Danforths (not one or the other, but both available to deploy at all times) should be all the anchor a sheltered water sailor needs? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joe Kidd" <jk@yosemite.net> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Wednesday, January 15, 2003 9:19 PM Subject: M15 Anchor Systems Steve, I use a small Bruce as my basic anchor. In my admittedly limited experience I have never needed anything else. I, therefore, would agree. I'd also like to know where Joe Kidd found his M14! I'd like to read what anchor/rode combinations long-time Montgomery sailors are confident with. I'd like to collect them for a web page for future reference on the MSOG. Limited experience, but my 11# claw (Bruce knock off) has been great. I even bought a 4.4# or a lunch hook. With a few feet of chain and 150' of 3/8" line, It fits in a shallow cockpit locker.
